Peter Madden was born in Napier in 1966, and lives and works in Auckland. In 2003 Madden completed a Master of Fine Arts at Elam School of Fine Arts, Auckland. That year, Madden's work was included in Follow the White Rabbit at Artspace, Auckland, and Picture at the George Fraser Gallery, Auckland. His 2004 exhibitions include the group exhibition Cut-Outs at Anna Bibby Gallery, Auckland, and a solo show to be held at Michael Lett Gallery, Auckland, in October. Madden's work is held in several private collections, including the Wallace Arts Trust.
